Dr. Helen Xiaoqin Ma founded Anteam, an East Midlands-based industrial AI company that trains bespoke models on a customer's own operational data instead of prompting a general-purpose LLM. She led development of the platform's original matching approach, inspired by how ant colonies coordinate individually simple agents to find efficient paths across a shared network, which gives the company its name and still underpins the route- and order-matching logic running in Anteam Reload™ and Anteam Route+™ today.
Under her leadership, Anteam's early prototype was backed by a Department for Transport Technology Research and Innovation Grant and Innovate UK's Women in Innovation Programme, and was profiled by Manufacturing Today after cutting CO2 by 2.6 tonnes in trial-phase deliveries. The Women in Innovation funding, a Department for Transport-backed feasibility study run by Innovate UK, was covered separately in Innovate UK Business Connect's case study, in which she describes the funding as accelerating the business by "at least 12 months."
